China
cancels visa curb ... on
bald Taiwanese
China
has cancelled a
controversial visa restriction on bald Taiwanese visitors amid
discrimination
concerns,
Taiwan's
media said
yesterday.
The rule imposed by the
Chinese city of
Xiamen
had barred bald people from
applying for one-year multiple-entry permits but was cancelled
earlier this
year.
Mr Roger Hsu, a spokesman
for
Taiwan's
Travel Agent Association, said the rule had mainly applied to
frequent business
travellers.
Media reports quoting travel
agents said Chinese authorities were concerned that "it was easier
for bald people to disguise
themselves".
